6th Feb to 31st Mar 2010: BBC Walking with Dinosaurs Exhibition It was 65 million years ago that dinosaurs roamed the Earth, but in an incredible TV programme, the BBC used advanced computer technology to bring these astonishing creatures 'back to life' once more. This unique exhibition reveals behind-the-scenes secrets of the award-winning series that recreated the time of the dinosaurs more realistically than ever before. Visitors will be able to see the original life sized polyurethane heads used for close-ups and scale models used in digital animations; come face to face with full sized dinosaur replicas, real fossils and casts; place themselves in the prehistoric landscape using blue screen technology; play interactive computer games and discover the science behind the programme; and watch a specially commissioned programme revealing how the series was made.

Rides are aimed at intermediate riders and will include some sections of single track. Bike hire and lights will be available to hire or you can bring your own. Dress warmly for the occasion. 28th Feb 2010: Walk: Hills, Ponds & Plantations This is a fantastic guided walk with magnificent views and a variety of scenery, wildlife and historic landscapes to appreciate en-route. The route takes us by Humbleton Hill, through Gledscleugh, and follows part of St Cuthbert’s Way over Black Law and Gains Law. Although easy going underfoot the first half of the walk is quite strenuous as we follow the beautiful valley of the Akeld Burn and negotiate a section over rough ground. It will be extremely boggy in places, particularly after prolonged wet weather, so come prepared! Booking essential.

On Market days you can buy local produce, find a bargain and enjoy the genial atmosphere in the Market Place. It is a way of life for many local people who come each week and for visitors it can be an enjoyable part of your day out in Alnwick. Alnwick weekly markets occur every Thursday and Saturday 9am - 4pm during the summer months. During the rest of the year the Saturday market takes place.
